What is Famous Locations?
First and foremost Famous Locations is a site dedicated to movies created by people in the business and avid fans.
Built around a Wiki interface to empower our members to edit existing info, contribute info, photos and videos.

Can I input data on both movies and locations?
You can input data on movies, locations, actors and directors.

What is the difference between a Movie page and a Location page?
Movie pages contain info about the movie; cast, director, list of locations, Production Photos, videos etc.
Location pages contain info about the location, Lat / Long co-ords, address, historical info and a list of the movies that have been filmed on location there.
Actor's pages contain info about the actor, their CV / Biog and their body of work, listed by movie / TV show etc.
Director's pages contain info about the Director, their CV / Biog and their body of work, listed by movie / TV show etc.

What is a Production Diary page?
Production Diary pages document the movie being shot on location. This would include stills, interviews, Production Notes, Production Photos, making of the movie photos etc. Example: Harry Potter at Goathland Station.

Sign up and log in
Some functions require you to log in with your username and password.
Get a username and password by clicking here.

Location? (movie page)
Below each movie still you will see either:
A link to the location where it was filmed, or
The Location? link.
Clicking the Location? link under a movie still will open the Location? pop-up with the movie still inserted into it.
You will also see the list of locations for the movie.
Select the location where the movie still was filmed.
Add Scene / Action info, i.e. Brad Pitt and George Clooney walk into the casino.
Click Save.
Refresh the movie page (Ctrl-F5) to see movie still assigned to that location.

I see something that is wrong. Can I fix it?[
Yes, just look for the nearest [edit] link and click on it.
This will open the edit screen - all the info fields are then accessible, listed below.

Movies filmed at or linked to the location.
Notes - Linked: It should be noted that not all movies linked to a location were actually filmed there. In the case of Elvis Presley's Graceland mansion there have only been a few movies filmed there, however, we have linked all 38 Elvis movies to Graceland because Elvis lived, died and is buried at Graceland. One has only to hear the conversations of the visitors to Graceland talking about Elvis' movies and his music. This flexibility can be applied this to many locations.

TV shows linked to ([name of location]
TV shows filmed at or linked to the location.

Adverts (Commercials) linked to ([name of location]
Adverts or Commercials filmed at or linked to a location

Information about the location, i.e. geographical, historical, travel info etc.

The actual address of the location. I.e.

How do I input the location / address - so the page has a map?
In the Location [edit] screen.
Click on the Google image to activate the Google geocoder.
Easily and quickly you can then:
find the location
fill in the address fields
find and assign Latitude and Longitude co-ordinates to place a pointer on the movie map.

Save Page
Once you have edited the info, click Save and the info on the page is updated. Easy!

Biog / CV
General information about the actor's background, experience, special skills, qualifications etc.

Movies linked to [actor's name]
List of movies that the actor has appeared in or is linked to.

Add a movie to the actor's movie list

TV shows linked to [actor's name]
List of TV shows that the actor has appeared in or is linked to.

Add
Add a TV show to the actor's TV shows list

Commercials linked to [actor's name]
List of commercials that the actor has appeared in or is linked to.

Add a commercial to the actor's Commercials list

Save
Once you have edited the info, click Save and the info on the page is updated. Easy!

You can choose to show or hide the information in that section.

How do I upload images?
Button - UPLOAD IMAGE
On most pages you will see an Upload Image button.
This enables you to upload images / photos to the page.
On a location page you might upload an image of you at the location, i.e. Rocky Steps.
On a movie page you might upload a movie still or production photo that you or another member can then assign to a location

How do I upload videos?
Button - UPLOAD VIDEO
Upload and play YouTube videos on any page.
1) Go to YouTube and search for the video you wish to upload.
2) Play the video on YouTube. The URL of the video will appear in the YouTube address bar.
3) Copy the full URL from the YouTube address bar, i.e. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bL2z7Qx_AG4
4) Click the UPLOAD VIDEO button on your Famous page. This will open the UPLOAD VIDEO pop up.
5) Paste the YouTube URL of your video into the Enter YouTube URL box in the pop up.
Tip: Make sure you have the full URL.
6) Add Comments. Tip: Keep it short and sweet for more impact.
7) Add Tags. Tip Separate tags with a comma.

On a location page this could a video of you and your friends at the location.
On a movie page this would be a movie trailer or another extract from the movie
On a director's page this could be an interview with the director, great scenes from their movies.
On an actor's page this could be great speeches, great action scenes, great drama or comedy etc.
UPLOAD VIDEO is a real opportunity to showcase talent.

Famous Friends of [name of movie, location, actor, director]
When you edit and save a page you become a Famous Friend of that page and your profile photo appears in this section.

I'm an Actor - can I input my CV?
Yes, we already have many Actors who input their work.
What better way to actually get involved with, and stay in touch with the movies than to research, contribute and edit info on a major movie information website like Famous Locations.
It's free to join and set up a profile.
Profile pages are designed so that they can also be used as a member's Biog / CV.
Profiles also track the member's contributions to all pages so they can build up a knowledgebase, a body of work, contributions etc.
This shows real involvement in the business.
Research aid - Search for locations by movie, director, actor, city, town etc.
Edit / contribute info, comments, images, videos, reviews etc.

I'm a Director / Producer- can I input my work?

Yes, we already have many Directors and Producers who input their work.
Get your own movie page by adding it to the movies list, we currently list 233,000 movies.
Add the actors who appeared in your movie.
Add the crew.
Add locations.
Add Production Notes.
Add the Synopsis info.
Add images.
Add videos.
Movie Map - Use our Google Geocoder to place location pointers on your own Movie Map.

Your friends and peers can then come on and discuss the movies on your movie page and rate your movie.

What is a Famous Friend and how do I become one?
Famous Friends - When you contribute to any page you become a Famous Friend of that page and you join the other Famous Friends of that movie, location, actor or director etc.

I have IMDB, MySpace, YouTube etc. pages.
IMDB is a great site and it's easy to link it to your Famous page.
Got a MySpace page? It's easy to link it to your Famous page.
Got YouTube videos? It's easy to link to them and show them on your Famous page.
MySpace and YouTube are great websites but Famous Locations is, first and foremost, a site dedicated to movie locations created by people in the business and avid fans.

I am an author and have a book about movie locations
Excellent. You can promote your book(s), i.e. if it is for sale on Amazon you can put a link to it beside every contribution you make to Famous. We encourage it as a thank you for your contributions.
Worth noting:
