    Shot largely in and around the Paddington Green area of London of the late 1940's a lot of the landmarks have all but vanished. The movie vividly portrays a period in London's past when 'bobbies' still patrolled the beat. This movie was instrumental in launching the career of Dirk Bogarde and the inspiration for a long-running tv series, Dixon of Dock Green. The police station in the movie was the old Paddington Green Police Station, now demolished and engulfed by the Westway Flyover.
