[edit] | [hide]About 'Casablanca' Airport
The Los Angeles Metropolitan Airport is now known as the Van Nuys Airport, situated in that latter city. The art deco control tower seen in the film was demolished in the 1960's. The airport is located at 6590 Hayvenhurst Avenue, west of Woodley Avenue, between Roscoe Boulevard and Vanowen Street. The hangar seen in 'Casablanca' is no longer on airport property, but still exists at 16217 Lindbergh Street (the front side). The featured photo is of the rear of the hanger and the side that appeared in the movie (the Waterman Drive side). Free tours are available Mondays through Fridays at 9:30 and 11 a.m. Airplane hangars seen in the movie can also be seen on Waterman Drive, a small street west of Woodley Avenue, north of Saticoy Street.
